More Than 100 Kids & Families Receive Complimentary Golf Instruction on Sunday, June 3, at Eagle Ridge Golf Club
PISCATAWAY, N.J., June 4, 2012…To complement the thriving Golf In Schools program that impacts 90,000 boys & girls (K-8th grade) throughout the Garden State in 2012, the New Jersey Golf Foundation (NJGF), the charitable arm of the New Jersey PGA Section (NJPGA), today reported that more than 100 boys and girls, braving inclement weather, participated in Youth Golf Day activities on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, N.J.
The interactive golf event, which was FREE and open to the public, offered an opportunity for the next generation of golfers to enjoy an on-course experience. Children & their parents were invited Eagle Ridge Golf Club to participate in a variety of activities, including complimentary lessons from PGA Professionals, instructional putting tips, short game clinics using SNAG equipment, and more. PGA Professionals from the New Jersey PGA Section were on-site working closely with all participating children and adults.
Youth Golf Day is an extension of the NJGF’s Golf in Schools Program, an initiative designed to introduce the game to children by incorporating the sport into physical education curriculums at elementary and middle schools. In 2012, more than 160 schools throughout New Jersey are participating in the program, which has expanded every year since 2009. In fact, Golf in Schools has become a model for all 41 PGA Sections across the country and today serves as a leading program to support the PGA’s growth of the game initiatives. As part of this initiative, children participating in the Golf in Schools Program, along with their parents or guardians, have opportunities to visit a local course/driving range to experience the game outside the gym class setting.
