Myrtle Beach Area Golf School Has Been A GOLF Magazine “Top 25” Award-Winner Since 1999

June 18, 2012, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Ritson-Sole Golf School, which has been a fixture at its original Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club location since 1991, has opened a new location at the Grande Dunes Resort Club in central Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Resort Club located at 82nd Avenue off the Route 17 Bypass, features a private club atmosphere and will allow the popular golf school to reach a bigger audience. Both the Grande Dunes Resort Club and Pawleys Plantation facilities are among the 22 golf properties in the Myrtle Beach area owned and/or managed by National Golf Management.

Each week for the remainder of 2012, golfers of all skill levels can enroll for three half-day golf workshops that include instruction on every aspect of the game from tee to green. One, two and three-day programs and private lessons are also available at affordable rates. For example, adults pay between $495 and $595 for a three-day instruction school, depending on the number of golfers in the party. The school also offers free lessons to children age 16 and under with a paying adult.

David Olberding, a Class “A” PGA teaching professional with more than 30 years of experience, will lead the instruction at the new location with oversight from owner Mel Sole, a former South African PGA Tour player with more than 40 years of teaching experience.

A special two-hour golf clinic is available at either location to celebrate the school’s grand opening. The cost is only $35 per person and video instruction is included. To register, call (843) 237-4993.

“We feel that people should expect first-class instruction at a price they can afford,” said Sole, who is also a published author on instruction. His most recent book, Golf Step by Step, was published in 2003.

The Ritson-Sole Golf School is the only golf school in South Carolina to be ranked among the “Top 25 USA Golf Schools” since 1999 by GOLF Magazine. The renowned teachers also have school locations in Greenville, S.C.; Ellicottville, N.Y.; and Mexico.

The school comes with unanimous 5-star reviews from TripAdvisor. And the late basketball coach Jim Valvano once reviewed the golf school as “a perfect 10.”

Headquartered year-round at Pawleys Plantation, 20 minutes south of Myrtle Beach, Ritson-Sole is renown for its innovative and results-driven instruction for golfers of all skill levels. It is also regarded as a 5-star attraction in Pawleys Island by TripAdvisor.

Mel Sole, a GOLF Magazine top teacher and a veteran of the South African PGA Tour developed the teaching principles. Sole has more than 40 years of teaching experience. Phil Ritson is a former coach to Gary Player and others who have played on the PGA Tour.

About National Golf Management Company

The National Golf Management Company was formed in February 2012 with the merger of Burroughs and Chapin Golf Management (B&C) and Myrtle Beach National Company (MBN), making the new company one of the 15 largest golf course management companies in the United States. It is far and away the largest management company on the Grand Strand and one of the leading golf course companies in the Southeast. The merger brought together a total of 22 Myrtle Beach area golf courses.

Burroughs and Chapin Golf Management was formed in 1999, and its list of courses includes Myrtle Beach’s oldest course, Pine Lakes Country Club – the Myrtle Beach area’s first course (circa 1927). But the history of the company’s other interests, including real estate in and around Myrtle Beach, dates back more than 100 years. The lineage of the company is traced to F.G. Burroughs and Simeon B. Chapin.

Myrtle Beach National Company was formed in 1971 with the construction of the Arnold Palmer-designed 54-hole golf complex, which includes the West Course, SouthCreek and King’s North. Other courses of distinction include Long Bay Club, Pawleys Plantation and Willbrook Plantation.
