Golf Gulf Shores Offers Chance to Win Free Foursome in SEC Beach Fest Alumni Golf Scramble

Gulf Shores Visitors Continue to Be Impressed; TimberCreek to Host NGA Pro Golf Tour

(GULF SHORES, ALABAMA) – The Gulf Shores Golf Association – a partnership of nine courses on Alabama’s Gulf Coast – is offering a chance to win a free foursome valued at $1,600 in the inaugural SEC Beach Fest Alumni Golf Scramble, Aug. 23-25.

The 36-hole event will be played on four Gulf Shores courses – Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club, Craft Farms, Gulf Shores Golf Club and Kiva Dunes – on Friday, Aug. 24. The top three foursomes from each course will compete in the championship round on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Kiva Dunes, Golfweek’s No. 1 rated golf course in Alabama.

Golfers can register to win a free foursome by visiting the Golf Gulf Shores Facebook page at www.facebook.com/GolfGulfShores. The final day to enter is July 26.

“The Golf Scramble is a great way for SEC alumni to get together and benefit their respective alumni associations at one of the preeminent golf destinations in the U.S.,” said Gulf Shores Golf Association Executive Director Duncan Millar. “Gulf Shores is the official beach destination for SEC fans and we look forward to helping celebrate the kickoff of another exciting football season.”

The entry fee for a foursome in the Golf Scramble is $1,600, with $400 benefiting the SEC alumni association of each player’s choice, and includes two rounds of golf, buffet breakfast, lunch or cocktails for afternoon flights, a gift bag and the chance to play in the championship round.

TimberCreek Golf Club to Host NGA Professional Golf Tour

The National Golf Association (NGA) Pro Golf Tour will visit TimberCreek Golf Club, July 23-29, for the TimberCreek Golf Classic.

The NGA – formerly known as the Hooters Pro Golf Tour – is the nation’s third-largest professional golf tour and has produced many current PGA TOUR stars, such as major champion winners Bubba Watson, David Toms and Jim Furyk.

The TimberCreek Golf Classic will include a full week of activities at the 27-hole facility in Daphne, AL, including a free junior clinic Tuesday, July 24 at 2 p.m. and a Pro-Am on Wednesday, July 25. Each Pro Am foursome will consist of three amateurs and a NGA Tour professional in a scramble format. The entry fee for a threesome is $750 and includes six tickets to the Pro-Am Pairings party on Tuesday, July 24, tee gifts, a golf shirt, and prizes.

The shootout tournament is scheduled for July 26-29 with 168 golfers vying for the six-figure tournament prize. Admission to the tournament is open to the public and free of charge.

Rock Creek Golf Club – Also owned by Honours Golf and boasting rolling terrain and fairways lined by pines, the Earl Stone design overlooks freshwater wetlands and the Rock Creek basin.

TimberCreek Golf Club – This 27-hole design was crafted by Earl Stone and feels like an inland Carolina course with fairways lined by loblolly pines, dogwoods and magnolias.

Gulf Shores Golf Club – Formerly known as The Golf Club of the Wharf, this was the Gulf Shores’ first course. Opened it 1960, it was redesigned by Jay and Carter Morrish in 2005.
