Oakland, CA- The 2012 Googie & Friends Annual Fund-Raiser Golf Tournament is set for Monday, August 13 at Lake Chabot Golf Course in Oakland, CA.

Five worthy Oakland-based junior golf programs will benefit from the fundraising tournament: Ace Kids Golf, Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy, Metropolitan Junior Golf Program, Oakland Turfgrass Education Initiative and The First Tee of Oakland.

“Once again, I am extremely proud that citizens and business leaders are coming together in support of the Googie & Friends tournament, helping raise funds which directly benefit youth-based golf programs within our community,” stated Oakland City Council President Larry Reid (District No. 7). “Through this charitable event we are able to help sustain recreational programs that not only teach youth about the great game of golf and its environment, but also help them develop tremendous interpersonal skills which will last a lifetime.”

The charity golf tournament commences with a 6:30 a.m. registration, followed by warm-up on the range and an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. Format is 4-person team-scramble. Entry fee is $500 per foursome (or $150 per player) which includes green fee, shared cart, bucket of balls, a Googie bag plus lunch and prizes. Registration deadline is Aug. 1.

According to Tournament Founder Leonard “Googie” Kirtley Jr., a variety of sponsorship opportunities are available: Tournament Title Sponsor-$10,000, Presenting-$5000, Meal-$4000, Contest-$1500, Friends of Googie-$1000 or Tee Sponsor-$150.
