6,500-Square-foot Putting Green Serves as Centerpiece for Practice on a Variety of Shots Inside 100 Yards

June 6, 2013, Farmers Branch, Texas – Students at Golf Academy of America’s Dallas campus now enjoy a spectacular, state-of-the-art facility to use to hone their short game skills.

This spring, the Dallas campus opened its short-game facility, including a 6,500-square-foot putting green with a consistently smooth MiniVerde Bermuda grass surface as the centerpiece.

Students can take aim at two target greens planted in 419 Bermuda grass from a variety of distances and lies. The short game accounts for about 65 percent of shots taken by most golfers.

The facility includes two sand bunkers, one grass bunker, a tee area and various length grass areas.

“It’s impossible to quantify the advantage of having a practice area offering the entire gamut of short game shots,” said Golf Academy of America Dallas campus director Greg Gossett. “The new short game area is the latest of an outstanding pool of resources available to our students.”

With several PGA members on staff, Golf Academy of America’s Dallas campus works in partnership with the PGA’s Northern Texas Section on several projects and is the presenting sponsor of the section’s All-America Tour for juniors.

Offering a comprehensive curriculum of golf instruction and business management, Golf Academy of America is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). The 16-month associates degree program balances classroom studies, practical experience and a comprehensive understanding of both the game and the business of golf.

Golf Academy of America boasts an exceptional career placement record for graduates, who go on to secure jobs as teaching professionals, tournament organizers, managers, clubfitters and other industry professions.
