Special $500 Promotional Rate through June 19
(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) — Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday — the Grand Strand’s golf marketing cooperative — announces more than 2,600 entries are already in for its 30th annual GOLF.com World Amateur Handicap Championship, on pace to reach a 3,500 participant milestone by August.
Last year, 3,100 players from 49 states and 25 countries (including baseball legend Roger Clemens) competed on a multitude of Grand Strand courses for the right to be crowned “World Champion.”
This year’s roster of 60-plus superb area layouts includes the Norman, Fazio and Love courses at Barefoot Resort, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, True Blue Golf Plantation and King’s North at Myrtle Beach National. The championship playoff will be held at Barefoot Resort’s Dye Club.
Registration for the four-day, 72-hole event is $500 through June 19, a $50 savings off of the regular entry fee of $550. Registration is available atwww.worldamgolf.com.
The entry fee additionally includes nightly access to “The World’s Largest 19th Hole” at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The gala is a vast festival of golf featuring equipment demos, entertainment, open bars, concerts, prize drawings and food from superb area restaurants. Golf Channel analysts Charlie Rymer and Brandel Chamblee are among the celebrities scheduled to appear.

World Am participants are flighted based on gender, age and handicap index. The tournament is comprised of approximately 70 flights and all flight winners advance to the 18-hole world championship playoff where a champion is crowned. The event’s inclusiveness is apparent in its past champions as winners with handicaps as low as three and as high as 34 have won. Four women have hoisted the championship trophy.
