PHOENIX, ARIZ., June 21, 2013 – The BIG Tournament, the world’s biggest invitational amateur charity golf tournament, announced today that Rocky River Golf Club at Concord, North Carolina has been selected as a host for a Round Two Regional event on August 17, 2013.
“We are thrilled to host The BIG Tournament in Cabarrus County. Though we are known as “Where Racing Lives,” our county is also home to great golfing. We’re excited to showcase Rocky River Golf Club to all those visiting for The BIG Tournament,” says Donna Carpenter, President/CEO of the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Rocky River Golf Club will host up to 144 golfers in a 2-person scramble format with a tee-time of 9:00 a.m. Cost to enter is $150 per player. With the support of the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority, golfers will experience a round of competitive golf, discounted practice rounds and promotional rates on accommodations.
“The Cabarrus County CVB hopes to continue a relationship with The BIG Tournament in coming years,” adds Carpenter. “We see this event as an opportunity to build Cabarrus County’s reputation as an outstanding golf destination.”
The winning team from each of the regional events wins $1,000 for their charity and free entry and hotel stay for the National Championship in November 2013, which will be hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada. The grand prize is $10,000. The second and third place teams will win $5,000 and $2,500 for their respective charities.
