PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The Keiser University College of Golf & Sport Management (COGSM) announces that members of the KUCOGSM Student Veterans Association have completed their first food drive and the results exceeded most of the students’ expectations. In just three weeks, the students’ drive collected 546 food and hygiene items with an estimated value of more than $1,200. All the collected items will benefit deployed men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces as well as disabled and homeless veterans in the Port St. Lucie, Fla., area.
“I’d like to thank all the faculty, students and donors that helped us exceed our goals in our very first food drive,” says Tim King, president of the Keiser University COGSM Student Veterans Association. “The generosity of the campus and the community was inspiring to all of us, and we’re already planning for our next event.”
The Keiser University COGSM Student Veterans Association was established in 2012, and its members today regularly network with military members and veterans, access a local veterans’ resource network, attend recruiting events held by military-friendly employers, attend SVA regional/national events, and are generally involved in the community both on- and off-campus.
“The College of Golf is the second campus in the Keiser University system to have a Student Veterans Association, and we’ve very proud of our SVA students, all of whom have displayed an amazing work ethic and dedication to supporting our brave men and women in the Armed Forces both home and abroad,” says Keiser University College of Golf & Sport Management Vice President John McMurry.
Keiser University COGSM degree in Golf Management prepares students for a variety of positions in the golf industry. In this program, students are prepared to provide golf instruction, manage golf course operations, ensure appropriate maintenance of golf facilities and equipment, as well as integrate the play of golf into the broader hospitality and recreation domain. Keiser University COGSM’s Bachelor of Science in Sports Management degree (with a concentration in golf management) focuses on the managerial and business aspects of a career in golf. The curriculum supports an expanded professional role of sports managers and graduates of associate degree programs in golf, hospitality, fitness, sports, recreation and other related fields.
