Greenville, S.C. – The Hawkins Foundation announced today that three-time World Long Drive champion Sean “The Beast” Fister will be participating in its fourth annual charity golf tournament – Not An Ordinary Golf Tournament, Take IV – to help raise awareness and funds for academic scholarships in orthopaedics. At the event, planned for Monday, October 7, 2013, at Greenville Country Club’s Chanticleer golf course, Sean will conduct an exhibition clinic, a “Beast Ball” long drive competition for prizes, and be available to players, should they need more firepower from the tee box on the par 5 fifteenth hole – all powered by McKinney Dodge Chrysler Jeep.
“Sean’s coming on board to support our mission through this event is really something special, and will be very exciting for the players,” said Gary Hyman, who serves as Executive Director of the Hawkins Foundation. “The guys and gals who compete in this tournament each year are serious about winning – it’s all about pride, not prize, with this event. Thanks to our unique format [Color Ball Texas Scramble, followed by a Cross Country Shootout], I think he should receive no shortage of player requests to help them gain an advantage.”
Sean Fister comes from a family that has produced seven professional athletes. Known as “The Beast”, he is the three-time RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion-Open Division, and has set 13 RE/MAX World Championship records and placed thirteen times in the Top 10 within the RE/MAX World Championships. Fister has conducted more than 2,000 exhibitions and appearances worldwide, has graced the cover of seven magazines, and has been in ten national television commercials. He founded and is a four-time Captain of the United States Long Drive Tour, has been inducted into three Halls of Fame, and currently serves as the President of the Long Drivers of America Hall of Fame.

A charity golf tournament you’ll never forget, the “Not a Traditional Golf Outing, Take IV” is anything but ordinary! Celebrating its fourth year, the tournament will take place on Monday, October 7, 2013, with a 9:00 am shotgun start on the award-winning Chanticleer Golf Course at Greenville Country Club. A post-round fiesta will feature live entertainment from an authentic mariachi band and tapas bites, beer, and margaritas. Then, partygoers and golfers alike can cheer (or heckle!) the top five golf teams as they participate in the final, winner-takes-all Cross Country Shootout.
All proceeds from the tournament will fund scholarships for Clemson University students working on orthopaedic research through the Clemson University Biomedical Engineering Innovation Campus (“CUBEInC”) Labs located within the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas and The Greenville Health System.
Powered by McKinney Dodge Chrysler Jeep, the “Beast Ball” competition will net one lucky winner a two-day Stay-and-Play getaway golf experience at The Cliffs Communities, with a complimentary vehicle for the weekend provided by McKinney Dodge.
