Stafford, Va. – Ten junior golfers from Northern Virginia will be competing as a team for a national championship in the 2013 PGA Junior League Golf National Championship which will be held on September 6-8, 2013 at the TPC at Sugarloaf in Duluth, Ga. Leading the team will be Captain Josh Tremblay, the PGA Head Professional at Springfield Country Club (Springfield, Va.) and Assistant Captains Tommy Smith, PGA Teaching Professional of Woody’s Range (Herndon, Va.) and Linda Gaudi, PGA Director of Instruction at the Country Club of Fairfax (Fairfax, Va.).

This team, called the Beltway One All-Stars, is a combination of top players from PGA Junior League Golf teams at golf facilities around the Washington D.C. beltway. They earned their way into the national championship by finishing first in the Mid-Atlantic Regional which was held at the Resort at Glade Springs near Beckley, West Virginia. The following junior golfers, who range in ages from 7-13, will make up the mid-Atlantic team in the National Championship (club affiliation in italics): Army Navy Country Club – T.J. Repczynski, Kyle Cardenas, Graham Kalan, David Stanford, and Michael Stanford; Country Club of Fairfax – Noah Blocher; Mount Vernon Country Club – Josh DiZinno and Wesley Duffy; Springfield Golf & Country Club – Mason Jones and Logan Schwartz.

Information and activity surrounding the National Championship will be posted on PGA Junior League Golf’s social media sites – Facebook (PgaJuniorLeagueGolf) and Twitter (@PGAjrleaguegolf).

PGA Junior League Golf is now in its second year in the mid-Atlantic region. Sixty MAPGA facilities hosted teams this year and over 600 juniors participated (second largest participation in the U.S.) Nationally, 700 teams were formed and 9,000 juniors participated. The goal of PGA Junior League Golf is to gradually introduce competitive golf to juniors in a fun, social and supportive environment. Through a team atmosphere and a scramble format, participants learn the values of sportsmanship, team work and encouragement.
