St. Augustine, FL – July 15, 2014 – The National Alliance for Accessible Golf (Alliance) announced today that funds are still available for inclusive golf programs for people with disabilities for 2014. Program grantees have up to one year from the original date of grant to use the funds and complete their inclusive program. These grants may be used to defray core program costs and support programs to help golfers with disabilities both learn and transition into playing the game.
Since 2010, the Alliance it has granted more than $580,000 to inclusive golf programs for people with disabilities. Through an on-going grant from the United States Golf Association, the Alliance has expanded its efforts to provide financial assistance and resources to help make the game of golf more accessible to people with disabilities.
In addition to the availability of funds for existing programs, funds can be requested for the establishment of a GAINTM program. GAINTM is a community-based instruction golf program primarily focused on assisting individuals with disabilities to become involved in the fabric of their community. This inclusive program uses golf as a primary vehicle to achieve that. Sites can choose from three existing GAINTM models – a partner, camp or community. In addition to funding, the Alliance provides program support and assistance to individuals and organizations seeking to establish a GAIN program in their community.
The Alliance will continue to accept grant applications on a rolling basis in 2014 until funding is exhausted. There are no specific deadlines for grant submissions and the Alliance Grants Committee will review applications on a rolling basis every 30 days.
Interested local programs are encouraged to apply. Eligibility guidelines and application materials are available at www.accessgolf.org/grants/alliance_grants.cfm. For additional information, please contact the Alliance’s Grant Coordinator, Gary Robb, at (812) 320-1126 or grants@accessgolf.org.
