VACAVILLE, CA – The Northern California PGA Foundation announced the winners of its Jim Langley Scholarship in honor of Mr. Langley who held a 34-year career as the PGA Head Professional at Cypress Point Club. This year, the Foundation was able to recognize six winners instead of two due to the generous donations that came to the Foundation in memory of Jim Langley and his son Brett Langley, who both passed in 2013. The three female and three male recipients include:
• Megan Conder of Heritage High School in Brentwood, CA
• Trae Jones of Spanish Springs High School in Sparks, NV
• Christine Kim of Presentation High School in San Jose, CA
• Joseph Bergen of Carmel High School in Carmel, CA
• Christopher Parkinson of San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, CA
• Jonathan Shaw of Redwood High School in Corte Madera, CA
The Langley Scholarship Fund selects award recipients based on academic achievement, community service, character, financial need, and golf playing ability. All of the recipients possess leadership skills, a strong work ethic, perseverance, integrity, and compassion.
The Jim Langley Scholarship Fund
Through the NCPGA Scholarship Program, the Jim Langley Scholarship Fund is able to support and encourage continuing education by assisting students residing within the bounds of the NCPGA Section with post-secondary schooling. Graduating high school seniors are provided with a means to achieve their dreams and promote the fundamental values that this great game has to offer. Scholarships of $2,000 each are awarded to each student.
The Langley Scholarship derives its funds from the NCPGA Foundation’s high profile annual fundraiser “The Langley – A Tribute to Legends.” This year’s event was held in August at The Inn at Spanish Bay & Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach. The fundraising event honored LPGA TOUR Legends and World Golf Hall of Fame Inductees Nancy Lopez and Patty Sheehan.
