(Palm Beach Garden, FL) The golf industry has been working tirelessly toward growing the game of golf. For over twenty-four years, the EWGA has been responsible for welcoming and connecting more than 100,000 women through their organization. Recently, EWGA’s CEO Pam Swensen joined BACK9NETWORK’s Erica Bachelor on “The Turn” to discuss diversity and inclusion of women in the game and how the EWGA has been a gateway to embracing and including women in a non-intimidating environment.
The initiative to growing the game of golf welcomes more diversity into the game. This means expanding your female demographic especially working and professional women. “Women are the gate keepers of the family and control a lot of purse strings and how the family time is being spent,” says Swensen. “If you can convince a woman that you are very welcomed into this (golf) industry, then that can open doors for the family to follow.”
Pam also discussed the mission of the Executive Women’s Golf Association, the importance of inviting women into the game and shared details on their upcoming Par 3 Challenge, a new competitive series for 2015. This nationwide inaugural event will feature nine regulation 18-hole Troon Golf courses, converted to shorter yardages to create the Par 3 experience. The EWGA Par 3 Challenge is expected to welcome more than 700 men and women nationwide. The event is a two-person best ball, with both Gross and Net Divisions at each qualifying site. Teams may consist of two women or a mixed team (one woman and one man). Two teams in both the Gross and Net Divisions at all regional qualifiers will advance to the 2015 EWGA Par 3 Challenge Finals at the Palm Beach Par 3 in Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday June 27, 2015.
