Five other Nippon Shaft players – including the runner up – finish in the top 20
CARLSBAD, Calif. (January 26, 2015) – Nippon Shaft on Sunday (Jan. 25) claimed its third victory in the first 11 tournaments of the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season.
The runner-up and four other top 20 finishers also used Nippon Shaft steel shafts in their irons.
The 31-year-old winner – a former FedEx Cup champion – used Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS3 PROTO ST X-flex steel shafts in his irons — 3-PW — after switching to Nippon last May. He finished with a total score of 22-under 266 on rounds of 67-63-69-67. It was his sixth PGA TOUR victory – his second at this tournament (2010) – and resulted in a winner’s check worth $1.026 million.
The runner-up, who finished just one shot back, used the same shafts in his irons as the champion. In November, the 38-year-old San Diego native won the OHL Classic at Mayakoba using the Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS3 PROTO ST X-flex steel shafts in his irons.
Four other top 20 finishers at Humana also used Nippon Shaft products in their irons.
