Sweepstakes offers chance to win golf trip by showing appreciation for golf course superintendents
Lawrence, Kan. (April 1, 2015) – If you appreciate golf course superintendents as much as some of the greatest golfers in world, let the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) know, and you could win a trip to the 2015 PGA Championship, Aug. 10-16, at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis.
The sweepstakes is part of GCSAA’s “Thank a Golf Course Superintendent” campaign. Commercials from the campaign will begin airing in April and feature a montage of clips from Jack Nicklaus, Rory McIlroy, Michelle Wie, Nick Faldo, Rickie Fowler, Graeme McDowell, Matt Kuchar, Johnny Miller, Davis Love, Nick Price, Colin Montgomerie, Jason Day and Karrie Webb, all thanking superintendents.
Entering the sweepstakes is simple. If you are at least 21 years of age, visit http://www.gcsaa.org/thankasuperintendent to send a message to your favorite superintendent. GCSAA will deliver your message, and you’ll be automatically entered to win a trip for two, including airfare, lodging and tickets, to the 2015 PGA Championship.
The sweepstakes kicks off April 1 and closes May 31, 2015.
Superintendents have also won the heart of Arnold Palmer, whose father and brother were both golf course superintendents. Palmer has said that GCSAA is “the single most important entity in golf today.”
“We as golfers also owe our gratitude to these professionals who have pushed themselves to higher standards of education, training and performance that have resulted in making golf a more enjoyable game. Those who derive income, either as a competitor or as a businessman, are equally indebted to the superintendents for their contributions,” Palmer said.
Superintendents manage and protect the game’s most important asset – the golf course. Not only do they manage all labor, materials and costs associated with keeping a course at its finest, they are also involved in the business-related activities of the facility. Superintendents strive to keep the environment safe while keeping their courses healthy and beautiful. Through their efforts, superintendents help enhance the enjoyment of the game of golf.
“Superintendents do their best to provide great playing conditions within the realm of keen environmental stewardship,” said Rhett Evans, GCSAA CEO. “We want to give golfers the chance to recognize and thank a superintendent for contributing so much to the game they love, and we’ll give them the chance to attend one of the game’s major championships.”
