Nationally recognized 2-person junior team event returns this July in Williamsburg, Virginia
(GREENSBORO, NC.) April 10, 2015 – In partnership with LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, LPGA Foundation and Sports Williamsburg, the Peggy Kirk Bell (PKB) Girls’ Golf Tour is pleased to announce the 3rd annual LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Team Championships, to be held July 6-8 in Williamsburg, Virginia. The event returns following a one-year hiatus, and will be hosted by Colonial Williamsburg at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, one of Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Resort Golf Courses in America.”
“The Girls Golf Team Championships was a huge success in 2012 & 2013 in Kiawah Island,” says PKB Girls’ Golf Tour Director and Co-Founder Mike Parker. “We are thrilled to be a part of this event and continue to work with LPGA-USGA Girls Golf to give more girls the opportunity to develop, compete and be recognized.”
The only national initiative of its kind, Girls Golf is administered through a partnership between The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Foundation and the United States Golf Association (USGA), both non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.
During this three-day event, teams of two will play a practice round followed by two tournament rounds on the Green & Spotswood Courses at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. The first round of the event will be a team choice scramble and the second day will conclude the tournament with four-ball stroke play. Players will represent a local chapter of the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program from across the country as they compete in one of the three divisions, Championship, Futures or Discovery. Participants will be ages 9 – 17 with varying experience levels in competitive golf.
Sticking with the PKBGT motto of “more than just a golf tournament,” the girls will participate in multiple events off the course, including guest speakers for both parents and players, a putt-putt challenge, cook-out and pool party. These PKB Experiences will bring the players together to create lasting friendships with other participants from across the country.
With more than 270 Girls Golf programs in communities across the country, Girls Golf members receive golf instruction overseen by LPGA and PGA teaching professionals who are equipped to take participants from beginner to advanced players. Girls Golf programs also focus on inspiring girls to feel confident, build positive self-esteem and live active and healthy lifestyles by incorporating the Five E’s of Girls Golf into their curriculum.
“We are excited to partner with the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour and to bring this great event to Williamsburg,” said Nancy Henderson, President of The LPGA Foundation. “The girls are going to get to meet other girls from all over the country, build lasting friendships and experience competition in a fun and supportive environment.”

About PKB Girls’ Golf Tour
Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept from Tour Founder Robert Linville, PGA: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls in the Carolina’s. Developed as a partnership with Tour Director Mike Parker and two LPGA teaching professionals, the tour set out to change the landscape of junior girls’ golf. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the players pace.
