Portland, Ore. (July 7, 2015) – With the Open Championship preparing to kick off its twice-a-decade run at St. Andrews, Scotland, Golf Media Network continues its own run with the Internet’s most widely circulated digital golf magazine, The Grain. The popular electronic publication now reaches nearly 3 million core golfers through partnerships with 38 state and provincial golf associations and several corporate partners.
The Open Championship issue features GMN’s look at St. Andrews and what to watch for-beyond, of course, Jordan Spieth’s pursuit of the Grand Slam- at this year’s event. Handicapper James Mason offers up his picks of key contenders and long-shot possibilities. Brian McCallen provides an insightful look at the Old Course (he kind of hates it!) from the perspective of a traveling golfer rather than a touring professional. And Tom Bedell explores the former British colony of Australia and wonders if it might be a good place to host the Open Championship since it is loaded with great courses and was once part of the Empire. And as always, The Grain travels outside the golf box to offer unique eclectic stories including a guide to cider and a golf IQ test.
The Open Championship edition is the fourth of seven issues published in 2015. Returning distribution partners include Shotzoom, makers of leading GPS apps; National Golf Management; and TOURAcademy. The Grain’s summer line-up of issues continues in August with a look at the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, followed by the September preview of the first Presidents Cup in South Korea. The Grain will finish the season with its annual Travel Issue.
The quality of The Grain’s circulation partners delivers an open rate well above the national average and as many as 500,000 impressions for advertisers, as documented by our third-party tracking company, Adzerk. GMN shares revenue from The Grain with its golf association partners, thus truly giving back to the game in a very tangible way.
Golf Media Network is a multi-platform custom publishing company created, owned, and operated by actual journalists. The company’s creatives (writers, photographers, videographers, and art directors) combine hundreds of years of experience covering golf, travel, and lifestyle, and conveying this expertise through great storytelling. GMN’s stated mission is to provide the finest original and informed golf content to the largest possible segment of the core golf audience.
