Firm is excited about move to Atlantic Beach Country Club and
building marketing programs around event
(PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL) – Moving the Web.com Tour Championship from one’s back yard to a new venue might have made some CEO’s nervous, but Legacy Trust CEO, Kristin McLauchlan, looked at it as an opportunity to expand her company’s footprint and show its continued support for the community. Plus, as a company committed to community service, the enhanced alignment with Wolfson Children’s Hospital made it an even better fit.
Most businesses that sponsor similar events are typically investing in branding opportunities or a chance to entertain clients. While those elements are important to the firm’s marketing goals, McLauchlan is equally focused on helping organizers build interest in the event and the charitable component. Given the significance of this tournament, including four days of live coverage on Golf Channel, the exposure for the community and the hospital is extremely important to Legacy Trust; therefore, Legacy Trust is putting into place a series of its own events designed to help garner spectator interest in the tournament,
Stated Kristin McLauchlan, Chairman & CEO of Legacy Trust, “As a business in our community, we feel strongly that it is our responsibility to support cultural and sporting events that can help our community prosper. The Web.com Tour Championship has proven its importance as a big event doing great things for our community, and we want to continue to drive that.” In past years Legacy Trust has given tickets to clients and prospects, inviting them to visit the tournament and spend some time in their hospitality chalet. Utilizing Jacksonville (FL) marketing strategy company MediaShare Consulting Group, Legacy Trust is taking a more creative approach this year to help promote the event.
o On Sunday, October 2, Legacy Trust will be the Presenting Sponsor of the North Florida Junior Golf Shootout, a new event pairing together several local juniors, a Web.com player and members of the media for a six-hole tournament. “Junior golf is an important part of our community,” said McLauchlan. “We want to support these young players, many of whom are working hard to someday get to the Web.com Tour.”
That may very well be the point of Legacy Trust’s sponsorship: celebrating the hard work, entrepreneurship and commitment that it takes to get to the professional ranks. Commented McLauchlan, “These players share the DNA of our typical client: they work hard, they’re successful and they don’t have time to worry about their finances, especially from a long-term generational perspective. It is a great fit for our brand.”
o On Thursday, October 6, at host hotel One Ocean Resort & Spa, Legacy Trust will host “Fashion on the Fairway” featuring local dress designer the Katherine Way Collection. Legacy Trust will host a breakfast for player’s wives and girlfriends as well as Web.com and PGA Tour executives and “friends of the firm.” The event is also a fund- and awareness-raiser for the Ronald McDonald House of Jacksonville, a charity that provides housing for children and their families battling illnesses at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. This event runs from 9:30 a.m – 11:30 a.m., after which guests will be taken to the course for lunch in the Legacy Trust hospitality area.
Said McLauchlan, “While we love the traditional benefits of sponsoring an event like the Web.com Tour Championship, the most compelling reasons for being involved has always been the commitment to area charities and giving to local non-profit organizations. Part of what we do for our clients is develop their charitable giving plans, and we practice what we preach by taking a leadership role in the community from a corporate giving perspective.”
o During competition on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9, Legacy Trust will sponsor a hole-in-one contest for the Web.com Tour players, who will be vying for a $25,000 cash prize. The contest will be held all weekend on the par-3 third, the hole where Legacy Trust will receive most of its signage. “Our hope is that someone wins and maybe shares it with Wolfson, but we wanted to do something that added an additional element of excitement to the tournament,” said McLauchlan, herself a golfer who played at the University of Michigan. “I envision a good crowd at the third hole helping to build some drama out there.”
Adam Renfroe, Tournament Manager of the Web.com Tour Championship, said of Legacy Trust’s strategy, “Legacy Trust has been one of this event’s great partners, and we are excited that Kristin and her team have committed to an impactful week in Atlantic Beach. Their efforts towards activation both onsite and offsite have given Legacy Trust a unique platform for community branding, and I am confident their exposure and investment in the Web.com Tour Championship will be rewarded this year as the event embraces a new era at Atlantic Beach Country Club, while still providing substantial benefit for Wolfson Children’s Hospital.”
When asked about Legacy Trust, Web.com CEO, David Brown, stated, “To have a company of Legacy Trust’s caliber continue its leading sponsorship role speaks volumes to the prestige of the event. We are fortunate to have them as a partner, and so dedicated to the success of this tournament.”
Being held October 6-9 at the newly-remodeled Atlantic Beach Country Club, the Web.com Tour Championship is part of the season-ending four-event Web.com Tour Finals, and the culminating event of the 2016 Web.com Tour season. The Web.com Tour Championship will feature the top 75 money winners at the end of the Web.com Tour regular season as well as the PGA TOUR players who finish 126-200 on the FedExCup points. All PGA TOUR cards will be finalized at the tournament, making the Web.com Tour the path to the PGA TOUR.
