Orlando, FL – PJ Maybank and Lauren Clark, both members of the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf Orlando Junior Elite Team, continue to rack up tournament titles and awards heading into Fall 2017. The Junior Elite Team is comprised of promising young players that demonstrate the talent to excel at the game, and importantly, have the work ethic and understanding of how to win and lose gracefully. These young golfers are given the honor of representing “the Greatest Golfer of All-time – Jack Nicklaus”.

PJ, a 12-year old from Cheboygan, Michigan, has worked with Brian O’Neill, Director of Instruction at the Nicklaus Academy Orlando, since PJ was 5-years old. Over the past several months, PJ has won an FCWT Junior event in South Bend at Notre Dame in the 12-15 year old division, and for the 2nd time (2015) qualified for the 2018 National Drive, Chip and Putt Championships at Augusta, GA.

Lauren, a 14-year old from Orlando, Florida, just started working with Brian in February of 2017 and in a short period of time, has lowered her handicap from -3 to a +1 while dominating the field in junior tournaments in Florida. Lauren qualified for her first FJT event by winning a Florida Premier Junior tournament and went on to win the FJT event by 6 shots with a 2-day total of -2 under par. Lauren was recently the Co-Medalist at the Central Florida High School Districts and is heading to compete with the best high school players in Florida at Regionals and the State Finals. Lauren is a freshman playing for Freedom High.

“Both PJ and Lauren are fantastic kids that show dedication and focus beyond their years. They are great examples of what hard work will do on the course while maintaining high academic standards off it. We can’t be more proud of these two along with the other members of the Junior Elite Team,” stated Coach O’Neill. “The sky is the limit.”

The Nicklaus Academy Orlando, located at the Hawk’s Landing Golf Club, is launching its Golden Bear Golf Team November 1st. According to Tony Wilson and Matt Clinger, coaches at the Nicklaus Academy, “The Golden Bear Golf Team is a great stepping stone to the Junior Elite Team. This program has been designed for players that want to advance from their JV Team to Varsity or move up the roster on either one by getting better results in the many junior events they participate in.” Both programs offer monthly training and coaching time at the Nicklaus Academy plus other benefits only available to Team Members.
