Callaway Driver Recall Fuels e21 Scandium Driver Advantages

Element 21 Golf Co., the manufacturer of Scandium Alloy golf equipment, reports, in recently conducted independent driver testing by Golf Laboratories, its new EMC2 Scandium driver has outperformed Callaway’s FT-5 driver by 29 yards in distance and is 338 percent more accurate.

Pellucid Corp. reports that for April, its proprietary measure of Golf Playable Hours fell 23 percent compared to April 2006. This brought the year-to-date GPH performance to down 10 percent at a national level compared to 2006.

Champ Launches Pink-On-The-Links Program To Support Breast Cancer Research

Champ introduces its inaugural Mother’s Day "Pink-On-The-Links" program, designed to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research. Coinciding with both PGA and LPGA tour events to be played on Mother’s Day, Champ will make a donation in the player’s behalf to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Total funds contributed to the BCRF will be based on the number of total participants wearing the commemorative pink spikes at both The Players Championship and the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill.

NCGA Foundation Awards $145,000 in Grants

The Northern California Golf Association Foundation awarded more than $145,000 in 2007 to organizations and programs that teach life skills and values through the game of golf.

U.S. Women’s Open Entries Close; 62 Golfers Currently Exempt

The U.S. Golf Association has accepted a record 1,251 entries for the U.S. Women’s Open, which will be played June 28-July 1 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. It is the fourth consecutive year the number of entries for the championship has surpassed 1,000. The previous record of 1,158 was set in 2005 for the Women’s Open at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo.
