EMIPRE STATE BUILDING TO BE LIT IN ARNOLD PALMER’S OFFICIAL COLORS ON WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN HIS 90THBIRTHDAY

One of the world’s great buildings will be illuminated red, yellow, white and green on Tuesday night in honor of the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation and Palmer’s philanthropic efforts

On what would have been Arnold Palmer’s 90thbirthday Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Empire State Building will be lit in Arnold Palmer’s official colors of red, yellow, white and green in honor of the Arnold and Winnie Palmer Foundation (AWPF) and the impact Palmer continues to have across the world.

“My dad always said it was the greatest privilege to give back when possible, and the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation is a testament to that,” said Amy Palmer Saunders, Palmer’s daughter and Chair of the Arnold Palmer companies and the Foundation. “That the Empire State Building is honoring his efforts with a lighting on what would have been his 90th birthday is a tremendous honor, and one that he would have enjoyed.”

“We are honored that the Empire State Building, one of the world’s greatest buildings, is honoring the efforts of one of our country’s greatest sons,” said Jon Podany, CEO of Arnold Palmer Enterprises and AWPF President. “Arnold Palmer brought a lot of light into this world, light that continues to shine brightly through the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation and the Palmer companies. This lighting is a strong statement of that, and to Palmer fans all over the world it’s a beautiful sight.”

The Empire State Building lighting is the crowning moment on a full day of birthday celebrations being staged by the Foundation and by partners and friends across the country to celebrate the legendary golfer, aviator, businessman and philanthropist. Other events include a display of 90 lit umbrellas in Latrobe, Pa., coordinated by the Pilobolus dance company; special GOLF Channel programming; an auction to benefit AWPF; and much more.

The Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation is dedicated to efforts on behalf of children’s health, youth character development and nature-focused wellness. More information on the Foundation is available at arniesarmy.org.
