APGS 2019 – A 5G Mindset – Investing In And Growing Junior Golf!

The term youth, is often associated with vibrancy, joyfulness, enthusiasm and passion. Youth and the future will always be linked, because each can’t exist in the absence of another. This description has tremendous relevance and bearing on youth and its impact on the future of golf.

It brings junior golf development into the picture. While there is a lot of talk about the importance and need to embark on properly structured junior golf development, nothing can really match what is being done in China to teach golf to that nation’s youngsters.

The 2019 Asia Pacific Golf Summit (APGS 2019) will be taking a laser-focused approach to the need for Asia to get cracking on exposing the game to more youngsters.

To get the job done, APGS 2019 has reached out to a man who is leading the thrust in junior golf development. He is Raymond Roessel, CEO, Golf for Shankai Sports Group, as well as Chairman of PacificPine Sports Group. A long-time Asia hand, he has invested more than twenty years in the sports marketing industry throughout Asia.

In his current capacity, he leads an exclusive partnership with the PGA TOUR to oversee the PGA TOUR Series-China, the Tour’s pathway to the Korn Ferry Tour and eventually PGA TOUR.

Raymond was instrumental in creating PacificPine’s partnership with the PGA of America to grow the game in Greater China by creating “PGA Youth Development Centres and Academies”, the first of which was the PGA of America Golf Academy at Mission Hills.

Today, PacificPine operates six facilities across China including, Hong Kong, Haikou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Beijing, employing over 30 golf professionals and PGA Members.

He has been tasked with sharing his thoughts on how the Chinese model can be used to help develop sustainable junior golf development programmes in other parts of Asia.

“We sought out Raymond because we believe that the partnership that he has put together will help put in place best-of-breed programmes to start juniors off on the right track towards learning the game of golf – this is the organisation that possesses the best blue-print for junior golf development in Asia,” said Mike Sebastian, CEO of the Asia Pacific Golf Group, the owner and producer of APGS 2019.
