Junior Golf University is proud to announce the new John A. Solheim Scholarship, named after the current longtime Chairman of PING Golf, to help enterprising high-school senior golfers with college expenses.
The scholarship will award $5,000 to the individual who lives by the same high character, integrity and core values as Mr. Solheim, demonstrates community involvement through extracurricular activities, impresses with a written essay, and is a proficient golfer.
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be a high school senior
- Be accepted to an accredited institution (or in the process)
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Have participated in at least two PING Junior Interclub seasons or have other tournament- experience
- Show a history of extracurricular activities (clubs, student council, volunteer work, etc.)
- Submit an essay of 250+ words. The essay should encompass personal background, future aspirations, and expectations from the college experience
The enclosed form allows candidates to present his or her credentials and write their essay. Candidates are encouragedto attach other relevant information. The deadline to submit a completed application to jsouza@ping.com is April 26th, 2024 at 5 p.m. MST. The winner will be notified on May 7th.
The first John A. Solheim Scholarship will be presented at the PING Junior Interclub State Championship at Papago GC on May 18th, 2024.
