After an impressive 2024 Tour Champions season, a KBS player earned his spot as the Charles Schwab Cup overall points winner for the 2nd time in 2 years! The 2024 winner had KBS C-Taper Lite 115x shafts in his New Level irons. The 52-year-old veteran player came into the Charles Schwab Cup tournament at Phoenix Country Club needing a result. He opened up his campaign on Thursday with a score of 70 and improved the next round with a 68. In order to secure the title, he needed to play lights out on the weekend to edge out the competition. Saturday, he shot an impressive 63 to give himself a chance going into Sunday. Sunday, he played a steady front nine to stay at the top of the leaderboard. Unfortunately for the KBS player, there were two players matched his score. The tournament came down to the 18-hole were the 52-year-old player needed to make a 10-foot birdie putt to force a playoff. He went on to leave the putt short to miss out on the playoff and the victory. His tie for 2nd place was enough to earn him the 2024 Charles Schwab Cup overall points winner for the 2024 season. This would be his 2nd Charles Schwab Cup Victory in 2 years, making him the 7th player in history to win it twice. He said, “I think the thing I’m most proud of is to keep that consistency year to year. To win the Schwab Cup and come back next year and I couldn’t win the Cup but I finished second, and another chance this year, that’s really pleasing and good for your confidence. Yeah, I’m really proud of the fact that I’ve kept the consistency”. A huge congratulations go out to the overall season winner and all the players in the field of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship! | Player Driven. Tour Proven |
