KBS WINS LOW AMATEUR AT U.S. OPEN
KBS Golf Shafts shined bright this week in more ways than one. Not only did the U.S. Open Champion use a FULL bag of KBS, so did the winner of the Low Amateur Award. The Oklahoma State University standout, who officially turns pro this week at the Travelers Championship proved he belonged after scoring 4-under par, good enough for a T-11 finish. His score of 280 is the lowest 72-hole score by an amateur at a U.S. Open – a record held by Jack Nicklaus since 1960. His numbers were outstanding on the week, finishing second in strokes gained tee to green and tied for third in greens in regulation – both of which are crucial statistics in any major. Earlier in the season, the amateur earned the same honor at the Masters, garnering praise from the entire golfing world, but not surprising anyone given his talent and ranking of No.1 amateur in the world.
