SAVANNAH, GA –The Landings Club is dedicated to their employees at work and in the classroom through the assistance of their annual scholarship program.
The Landings Club Scholarship Foundation has been in place for roughly 30 years and has awarded scholarships to employees who have served at The Landings Club for at least one year and their dependents.
“The Landings Club Scholarship Foundation is a win-win situation,” says Foundation Chair, Marianne Kosiewicz. “The employee recipients of the scholarships gain financial assistance in meeting their educational goals, the Club increases its employee retention rate, and members receive a Club atmosphere generated by grateful employees and by employees who are not in the program but see evidence that the Club ‘has the employees’ backs,’ as one individual said to me.”
In the last five years, the Landings Club Scholarship Foundation has paid $250,000 in tuition and educational fees toward employees’ education and that of their eligible dependents. Approximately 30 individuals are assisted each year.
Cor’Neisha Crosby began her career at The Landings Club in 2015. The Scholarship Fund has helped her reach her dream of becoming a middle school teacher. “If it hadn’t been for the scholarship, I would not have been able to finish my degree,” says Crosby. “Overall, the scholarship has helped me to continue and complete my degree term. I will be graduating from Georgia Southern University, May 8, 2021, with a Bachelors in Secondary Education. This was made possible with the generous support of The Landings Club membership, staff, and scholarship committee, and I am incredibly thankful.”
All eligible applicants are awarded a scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on length of club service, financial need, work performance, and the likelihood that the applicant will complete the educational goal.
“We believe in investing in our current and future workforce,” says Director of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness, Theresa Dileo. “We want our team members to grow within the company and stay with us for the long-term. Additionally, scholarships make a direct impact on the community by helping deserving students afford higher education.”
Ashton Vinson-Karabinos, currently enrolled in William & Mary, has received the scholarship for five years, helping him to fund both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. “The Scholarship Fund allows me to further develop my professional skills where it would otherwise be cost-prohibitive,” says Vinson-Karabinos.
The Foundation is financed 100% by member donations. The generosity of members of The Land-ings Club helps staff further their educations. Scholarships have been awarded for undergrad, graduate, and certification programs.
“The generosity of our membership has impacted the lives of so many staff,” says The Landings Club Executive Director, Steven Freund. “This is a unique program and gives our Club an advantage in a competitive market for talent. This program positively influences high-quality hospitality professionals to join our team and further their career.”
Applications will be accepted May 1-21. Applicant interviews will take place June 7-11. Scholarships will be awarded in mid-June.
