Malcolm DeMille’s brilliant craftsmanship could be seen at three tour events on Mother’s Day weekend—PGA TOUR’s Wells Fargo Championship, LPGA’s Cognizant Founders Cup, and PGA TOUR Champions Regions Tradition. Each trophy was uniquely handcrafted by Malcolm DeMille to embody the tour’s event.
First up, the LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup where Rose Zhang won her second career title and her second Malcolm DeMille crafted trophy (first being Mizuho Americas Open). With four birdies over the last five holes, Zhang inched out the win over Madelene Sagstrom, taking home the hand-sculptured and cast bronze trophy of the LPGA logo. The team at Malcolm DeMille put great care into the trophy’s polished highlights, heavy textures and stylized lines that represent the fluidity and motion of the iconic logo. We are thrilled the eye-catching piece has a new home with Rose Zhang next to her first Malcolm DeMille original cup!
We then turned to PGA Tour Champions, Regions Tradition where Doug Barron earned his first major title. Barron outlasted some of the tour’s biggest names, and was rewarded with the title Regions Tradition Champion and trophy handcrafted by Malcolm DeMille. The 10.25″ tall jug cup finished in Nickel Plate with polished highlights, features the sculpted crossed club logo, and a black satin resin handle, will forever have its rightful place on Doug Barron’s mantel.
Wrapping up Mother’s Day weekend Rory McIlroy was red hot winning back-to-back events and Malcolm DeMille awards—the Zurich Classic’s larger than life belt buckle, and Wells Fargo Championship cup. The Champion Cup, marks McIlroy’s fourth Wells Fargo Champion win (third trophy cup by MDI), is handmade cast bronze cup is rhodium-plated with a hand carved crystal in the center featuring the Wells Fargo Championship logo. The crystal self illuminates using the reflected light from inside the cup giving a one-of-a-kind glow to the award. The Cup’s detailed handles and base bring all the elements together to portray the rich history of the tournament.
Rory McIlroy’s champion caddie, Harry Diamond, did not go home empty handed. He was also recognized for the added value he gave to McIlroy’s play and was awarded a Malcolm DeMille high-end stainless-steel Trophy Tray featuring a 2D replica casting of the Wells Fargo Championship cup.
