Malcolm DeMille’s craftsmanship was showcased this past weekend, with handcrafted Champion belts for Zurich Classic and an impressive trophy cup for JM Eagle LA Championship. Each event had outstanding play and a notable Champion story.
After Team Europe won last year’s Ryder Cup, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry decided to try their luck at the Zurich Classic. Starting on Sunday, the pair found themselves as outliers, but fought their way to the winner’s circle hoisting up the coveted Zurich Classic Champion Belts made by Malcolm DeMille. The wearable trophies are impressive 6” rhodium plated buckles that embody the spirit of New Orleans featuring music notes, fleurs-de-lis, gators, and Mardi Gras masks. These original prizes have come to be an iconic part of the Zurich Classic as they embrace the city and team spirit that has set this event apart since 2017.
Meanwhile at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles, Hannah Green set out to defend her JM Eagle LA Championship title. Green secured the title on the second hole of a play-off round against Maja Stark, ending the tournament 5-under 66 and once again taking home the stunning JM Eagle LA Championship Cup made by Malcolm DeMille.
Some of the sharp-sighted viewers may have noticed the JM Eagle LA Championship Cup was updated this year. The cup still features the stunning details that set it apart, with a contrast of heavy texture and high-polished finish, along with details like the eagle perched atop a golf ball with its wings spread and subtly feathered handles. However, the previous version stood at 24.5” tall and the new version of the JM Eagle La Championship Cup stands at a whopping 30.5” tall and is accented with gold plating to highlight the eagle and logo allowing those details to catch the eye with ease.
