(FARMINGTON, Pa.) – Nemacolin Woodlands Resort – the acclaimed luxury resort in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania – announces its Mystic Rock and Shepherd’s Rock layouts were honored in Golfweek’s just-released “Best Courses You Can Play in Pennsylvania” list.
For the fourth straight year, Golfweek selected Mystic Rock as the best public course in the state. Designed by World Golf Hall of Fame architect Pete Dye, Mystic Rock was the site of the PGA TOUR’s 84 Lumber Classic. The scenic par-72 layout is also ranked No. 45 in the Golfweek’s “Best Resort Courses in the U.S.”
Shepherd’s Rock opened last July to rave reviews and debuts at No. 5 on the list. The 7,151-yard layout presents golf in a spectacular setting as the rolling bucolic terrain provided an ideal canvas for Dye and co-designer Tim Liddy. The course offers plenty of challenging fun for players of all abilities and gives Nemacolin 36 holes of world-class golf.
“We are delighted Golfweek positioned both Mystic Rock and Shepherd’s Rock at the pinnacle of this prestigious state course ranking,” says Tom Smith, director of golf. “These accolades are a wonderful way to begin our 2018 golf season and accentuate the exceptional golf experiences and customer care we offer our guests.”
The resort also recently received the coveted “Editors’ Choice Award” from Golf Digest in the “Best Golf Resorts in the Mid-Atlantic” category. Golf Digest also ranked Mystic Rock in the top-60 of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses,” and Shepherd’s Rock was featured in GOLF Magazine’s 2017 “Best New Course You Can Play.”
In addition to extraordinary courses, the state-of-the-art Nemacolin Golf Academy offers topnotch instruction led by PGA Professional Eric Johnson, a Golf Digest “Top 100 Teacher.” Highlights at the world-class facility include individual lessons, TrackMan® Golf Radar Solution, SAM Putt Lab, V1 Video System, BodiTracks as well as one-, two- and three-day golf schools.
The Golf Academy also offers expert club-fitting for custom-made equipment ideal for everyday golf aficionados and junior players as well as professionals. The latest technology is used to accurately analyze individual swings and build the perfect clubs for consistent, enjoyable golf.
Through Nov. 3, Nemacolin’s season-long Stay & Play Golf Package includes luxurious overnight accommodations, a round of golf on Mystic Rock or Shepherd’s Rock, and breakfast each morning. The offer also includes a golf cart as well as locker room and range usage. A two-night minimum may be required and seven-day advance reservation is requested. Other restrictions and fees may apply.
A slate of golf memberships for 2018 includes the ultra-exclusive Founders Club Membership and Full Golf Membership, designed for individuals and families.
