NIPPON SHAFT PLAYERS WIN ON PGA AND EURO TOURS
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Two players used Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series of high-caliber steel shafts Sunday (Oct.13) to win in Houston and in Rome, bringing the MODUS³ victory total to 44 in 2019 and 199 since inception in 2010.
At the Houston Open, the 31-year-old recent Korn Ferry Tour graduate recorded his first PGA Tour victory using Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 130 X steel shafts in his irons and the N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 130 X steel shafts in his irons and the N.S.PRO MODUS³ Wedge 125 shaft in his wedges. The champion shot 14-under par 274 with rounds of 66-74-65-69 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas. With the victory he earned a winner’s check worth $1.35 million and invitations to the 2020 Masters and the PGA Championship. This was the first MODUS³ series victory in the 2019-20 wraparound season.
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Austrian captured the Italian Open using Nippon Shaft’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 steel shafts in his irons. He shot 16-under par 268 with rounds of 66-70-67-65 at Oligiata Golf Club north of Rome. His winner’s check was €1,059,540 or $1.168 million and he moved to No. 1 on the Race to Dubai list. The victory was his third this year during which his Official World Golf Ranking has improved dramatically to 36th from 389th as of May 2019.
