Longtime Nippon Shaft Player Wins in Dubai
CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Nippon Shaft Modus series of irons posted its 227th victory on worldwide professional tours Sunday (Jan. 31) as the champion used the company’s N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 shafts in his irons and wedges.
The 43-year-old Englishman who has used Nippon Shaft products for many years shot 17-under par 271 with rounds of 67-70-64-70 to win by four at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. His 15th European Tour victory moved the Scottsdale, Arizona resident to No. 16 in the Official World Golf Rankings and enhanced his aspiration to play on this year’s European Ryder Cup team. He also received a winner’s check of €435,485 million ($498,129).
