NIPPON SHAFT PLAYER EARNS PGA TOUR CARD WITH WIN IN CALIFORNIA
CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 5, 2019) – The winner of the Ellie Mae Classic used Nippon Shaft N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour prototype steel shafts in his irons (Aug. 4) to record his first victory on the Korn Ferry Tour and secure full PGA TOUR playing privileges for the 2019-20 season.
The 28-year-old out of Brigham Young led the field in greens in regulation at TPC Stonebrae in Hayward, California en route to a 17-under par finish with rounds of 66-65-65-67—263. He did not make a bogey in his final round, which he started one shot behind the leader. He earned a first-place check of $108,000 for his first win on any PGA Tour-sanctioned event.
It was the 34th victory this year for the MODUS³ series and the 188th overall, according to company officials.
“Nippon Shaft would like to congratulate the winner of the Ellie Mae Classic on his very important victory,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “Nippon Shaft is proud that he felt he could rely on Nippon Shaft products to compete in one of the more important tournaments of his career to this point. We wish him all the best as he continues to pursue his PGA TOUR dream.”
