Nippon Shaft Wins Two Senior Majors On The Same Day At Two Venerable Chicago-Area Courses
CARLSBAD, Calif. (July 17, 2018) – Two World Golf Hall of Fame members used Nippon Shaft products to record victories Sunday (July 15) outside Chicago at the Constellation Senior Players Championship and the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open.
The 55-year-old Fijian won his first senior major championship on the second hole of a sudden death playoff, where he made a birdie 3 on the 18th hole at the Donald Ross-designed Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Illinois.
The former Masters champion and two-time winner of the PGA Championship used the N.S.PRO MODUS” Tour 105 steel shafts in both his irons and wedges to shoot 20-under par in regulation with rounds of 68-67-66-67-268.
The victory was 138th global Tour win for a MODUS” model and the 15th this year alone.
Meanwhile, at the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open at historic Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois, the 54-year-old Englishwoman lapped the field with a 10-shot victory at the Charles Blair McDonald-Seth Raynor-designed masterpiece.
She used Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO 950GH steel shafts in her irons and wedges to shoot 16-under par for the championship with rounds of 71-71-66-68-276. She started the day with a five-shot lead and finished with a birdie on the 18th hole. It was her 85th victory worldwide.
