Madden, a PGA of America Member since 1993 and the 2016 MAPGA Golf Professional
of the Year, Becomes the 63rd Member of the MAPGA Hall of Fame
Stafford, Va. … (March 20, 2025) – The Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA of America (MAPGA) – celebrating the Centennial of its founding in 1925, has announced PGA of America Golf Professional John F. Madden, II as the 63rd member of the MAPGA Hall of Fame, and the lone member of the Class of 2026. The honor recognizes MAPGA Members for their lifetime dedication to the game and business of golf, while showcasing the ideals of sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and the mission of the MAPGA.
Madden, who has been a PGA of America member since 1993, has enjoyed a storied career in the Middle Atlantic Region including his past position as the Head Golf Professional at River Bend Golf & Country Club in Great Falls, Va. A decorated PGA Member, Madden was named the 2016 MAPGA Golf Professional of the Year and the 2005 MAPGA Merchandiser of the Year, Private Club.
Dedicated to growing the game and business of golf throughout his career, Madden was elected as the 46th MAPGA President and served from 2014-2015. He also served the PGA of America at the national level, being elected to the Board of Directors as a District Director. John served the Carolinas, Kentucky and Middle Atlantic Sections as District 10 Director during a three-year term from 2019-2021.

Madden started his career in golf in 1989 after graduating from Ohio University, where he played on the Men’s Varsity Golf Team. His first job was at Kenwood Country Club, in Bethesda, Md., his home club growing up where he served as a bag room attendant. In 1990, he started working at Westwood Country Club in Vienna, where he would eventually earn the Middle Atlantic PGA Section’s (MAPGA) Assistant PGA Professional of the Year Award in 1996. An accomplished, competitive player, Madden also competed on the Hooters Tour in 1997.
A longtime resident of Leesburg, Va., Madden and his wife, Julie, now reside in South Elgin, IL and they have three adult children, Sean, Connor and Kara. John currently serves as the Director of Golf at Royal Fox Country Club in St. Charles, Ill.
Hunter adds, “John Madden now joins an acclaimed group of MAPGA Hall of Fame members whose commitment and contributions to the game of golf and fellow PGA Professionals is unapparelled.”
