Ally McDonald and Ben Martin Each Win $50,000 for Charity Donation with Spirit Charity Golf Title

Spirit alumni, including LPGA and PGA Tour players, gathered for a day of fun and golf while raising money for charity in the inaugural Spirit Charity Challenge held Monday (Oct. 7) at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. Stacy Lewis and Sam Saunders served as ambassadors for the event.

Spirit Founder Corby Robertson, Jr., welcomed the field which included LPGA Tour players, Austin Ernst, Maria Fassi, Bronte Law, Pernilla Lindberg, Gaby Lopez, Ally McDonald, Lorena Ochoa, Emma Talley and Lexi Thompson and PGA Tour players Roberto Diaz, Julian Etulain, Dylan Frittelli, Mackenzie Hughes, Colt Knost, Scottie Sheffler, Ben Martin, and Peter Uilhein.

LPGA’s Ally McDonald and PGA Tour’s Ben Martin captured the championship and total of $100,000 to donate to their charity of choice.

McDonald donated her $50,000 to Itawamba Crossroads Ranch. When completed, the ranch will be a privately funded, non-profit residential community for high functioning special needs adults just north of Fulton, Miss.

Martin donated his $50,000 to College Golf Fellowship, a faith-based organization for college golfers and coaches.

The Spirit Golf Association has contributed more than $12 million to its charitable activities.

The Spirit Charity Challenge precedes the 2019 Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship, a premiere golf event featuring the world’s best men and women amateur golfers representing their respective countries in team and individual competitions, scheduled for Nov. 7-9 at Whispering Pines.
