DRIVER GOLD FOR MIZUNO FOR THIRD YEAR RUNNING PLUS TOP AWARDS IN HYBRIDS, IRONS AND WEDGES
Mizuno, the Japanese golf equipment manufacturer long renowned for its beautiful, industry-leading clubs, has won an incredible eight golds in Golf Digest’s 2021 Hot List, including five in the various iron categories, a third straight gold in the drivers category and top awards for both hybrids and wedges.
Given the company’s global reputation for forged irons, Mizuno has a strong history of picking up golds in the iron categories of Golf Digest’s annual Hot List awards. With five golds across the various irons categories this time out, that excellent record continues. In addition to irons success, the ST-Z and ST-X drivers received gold, marking the third straight generation of Mizuno drivers to be awarded gold in the Hot List.
“We are delighted to have received this level of recognition across the categories,” said Chris Voshall from Mizuno. “We have always performed well in the iron categories, but to receive three further golds in drivers, hybrids and wedges really demonstrates the impact we continue to make, producing the very best equipment through the bag. The Hot List has long been the go-to test in the industry and it’s very important for us to have performed so well in the 2021 edition.”
Mizuno’s Hot List gold iron haul was spread across the ‘game improvement’, ‘players’ irons’ and ‘players’ distance irons’ categories with all four members of the JPX921 family receiving the top award – Hot Metal, Tour, Forged and Hot Metal Pro.
The MP-20 MMC irons were also awarded gold in the ‘players’ irons’ category and were one of the few irons to receive a full five stars for ‘Looks-Sound-Feel.’
Also picking up golds were the CLK hybrid and the T20 wedges.
Gold award winners:
ST-Z and ST-X drivers – lower spin and maximum forgiveness on off-centre hits
“The ball really springs off the deep, responsive face.” Player comment
“The third generation of gold for Mizuno drivers, great validation for a product we are extremely proud of.” Chris Voshall
CLK Hybrid – sharpshooter club that solves the gapping issues in the long end of your bag
“Explodes at impact but never out of control. High flight like a wood with the feel of an iron. Great turf interaction.” Player comment
JPX921 Tour iron – compact, muscle-cavity blade
“Might be the most forgiving iron in this category. Good turf interaction and easier to hit the long irons and get some air under the ball.” Player comment
JPX921 Forged iron – thinner, hotter face in a relatively compact, better-player shape
“It feels solid and light, you can really work the ball.” Player comment
“The Players Distance category has become the one to win in irons and to have golds for both JPX921 Forged and JPX921 Hot Metal Pro is superb.” Chris Voshall
JPX921 Hot Metal Pro iron – Hot Metal performance and forgiveness in a smaller package
There’s an indescribable joy seeing the ball leap off the face and storm down the fairway.” Player comment
JPX921 Hot Metal iron – high strength to weight ratio generating impressive power
“I discovered a smooth swing with this iron. The distance is good and the ability to shape shots is there.” Player comment
“To receive 5 stars in both ‘Performance’ and ‘Looks-Sound-Feel’ demonstrates we achieved what we set out to with the JPX921 Hot Metal.” Chris Voshall
MP-20 MMC iron – highly stable with imaginative use of titanium
“Love the weight, balance and turf interaction. Very easy to control distance.” Player comment
“One of the few irons to get a full 5 stars for ‘Looks-Sound-Feel’. To have golds with both the MP-20 MMC and JPX921 Tour in the ‘players’ irons’ category is hugely satisfying.” Chris Voshall
T20 – loft-specific groove design
“Good weight. You can really feel the head throughout your pitches and sand shots. Easy to open up the face on tight lies.” Player comment
