THREE FIRST-TIME WINNERS CHOOSE CLEATS ON PRO TOURS
BRENTWOOD, Tenn., July 1, 2019 – The professional golf tours produced three first-time winners this week, and each golfer reached his new career milestone in cleated footwear. This week’s winners on the PGA Tour, European Tour and Korn Ferry Tour all played in footwear featuring Softspikes® or Champ® replaceable cleats.
Though not new to the trophy presentation, the LPGA Tour winner and U.S. Senior Open champion this week also finished atop the leaderboard in cleats.
“Players across all professional tours try new equipment every week as they look for a better fit or an edge over the competition. Footwear featuring replaceable cleat technology remains the choice for the majority of players week after week because of its superior stability, traction and control,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports®.
On the PGA Tour, the winner of the first-ever Rocket Mortgage Classic was wearing Footjoy® Fury shoes with Softspikes® Pulsar replaceable cleats. The first-time European Tour winner at the Andalucía Masters was sporting Footjoy® Icon footwear with Champ® Stinger cleats. The Utah Championship winner on the Korn Ferry Tour claimed victory in Nike Vapor React 2 footwear with Softspikes® Silver Tornado cleats.
On the LPGA Tour, the Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship winner was also wearing Nike Vapor React 2 footwear with Softspikes® Silver Tornado cleats, and the men’s U.S. Senior Open winner claimed a major championship in FootJoy® Dryjoy shoes with Champ® Stinger cleats.
Replacement Softspikes® and Champ® cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.
PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP and Softspikes brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.
CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado® and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.com and www.softspikes.com.
