Two wins, seven runners-up in 12 events for Tour Edge on 2018 PGA Tour Champions
Tour Edge Exotics CBX hybrid staff player Tom Lehman won the 2018 Principal Charity Classic on the PGA Tour Champions Sunday playing two Tour Edge Exotics CBX hybrids; a new 16-degree that he replaced his 3-wood with this week and the 18-degree with a Project X HZRDUS Black 105 shaft that he’s been playing since the second event of the season.
The 59-year-old Lehman shot 13-under at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa with a total of 12 birdies, an eagle and one bogey, leading him to a two-shot victory. It was Lehman’s 11th victory on the PGA Tour Champions. He has collected five Top 10 finishes in 11 starts this season, including three Top 5 finishes.
Lehman earned $262,500 and jumped 10 spots, from 20th to 10th, in the Charles Schwab Cup standings with his victory.
The win is the second on the PGA Tour Champions this year for a player with Exotics CBX metalwoods in the bag.
Eight players playing Tour Edge are currently ranked in the Top 30 in the 2018 Charles Schwab Cup standings: #6 Non-Contracted Player, #8 Scott McCarron, #10 Lehman, #11 Tim Petrovic, #20 Rocco Mediate, #23 Scott Dunlap, #29 Non-Contracted Player and #30 Duffy Waldorf.
With eight hybrid staff players and 26 additional players choosing to play Exotics CBX metalwoods since they were launched to the PGA Tour Champions, Tour Edge has experienced a remarkable run of two victories and seven runner-up finishes in the first 12 events of the season.
“Our amazing streak on the PGA Tour Champions continues with our second victory of the season,” said David Glod, President and the Master Club Designer behind the Exotics CBX clubs that the professionals are playing. “We now have five straight events that we have finished first or second in. This one is very, very special to Tour Edge because of who won with our equipment – the legendary Tom Lehman.”
Lehman started playing Exotics CBX hybrids at the Boca Raton Championship in February.
“When we first had Tom Lehman start playing our clubs, we knew we had to try to get him on board as one of our Exotics CBX hybrid staff players. He’s a former Ryder Cup captain and one of America’s all-time favorite golfers. We were beyond excited that Exotics CBX was performing for him like they were. He stated that in the past he had trouble playing hybrids into the wind and that if there was any wind whatsoever, he would put them away. Now he’s switching out his 3-wood for a 16-degree Exotics CBX hybrid. I think that says a lot about what these clubs have been able to do for Tom and that is exactly why I designed them the way that I did.”
Thirteen total Exotics CBX clubs were in play in Des Moines: nine Exotics CBX hybrids, two Exotics CBX fairway woods and two Exotics CBX Iron-Woods. The Exotics CBX hybrid ranked as the #2 most played hybrid model at the event.
About Exotics CBX
Exotics CBX are the only metal woods ever designed to feature a Titanium face, stainless steel body and carbon fiber sole. The Exotics CBX hybrid’s higher CG is located slightly forward in the club head through the use of a carbon fiber in the sole, which is significantly lighter than stainless steel. This helps to increase ball speed and reduce spin, which makes for less dispersion. Tour Edge’s extremely thin Beta-titanium cup-face enlarges the ideal hitting area on the clubs. It is brazed to stainless steel behind the hitting area which allows the face to flex more at impact, while the Speed Ramp sole design provides reduced turf interaction so the club can maintain its speed through the hitting area.
The Tour Edge Exotics CBX fairway woods, Exotics CBX hybrids and Exotics CBX Iron-Woods are currently available at select authorized Tour Edge retailers. To find a Tour Edge retailer near you, call (800) 515-3343 or visit touredge.com.
