Sanjay Kuttemperoor, of Naples, Fla., recently made two aces in a five-hole stretch at Treetops Resort in Treetops Village, Mich. Lloyds of London sets the odds of such an occurrence at 67,000,000 to 1. Based on those odds, a golfer would have to play a round of golf 365 days a year for 183,561 years in order to accomplish the feat.

Golf & Tennis Pro Shop Inc. will open its fourth Atlanta-area PGA Tour Superstore in Buckhead, Ga. in September. … Michael Mull recently made a hole-in-one came on the 17th hole at Sweetwater Golf and Country Club in Longwood, Fla., and made a second ace exactly one week later on the club’s eighth hole. … The Northern California PGA announces that Black Oak Casino and the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk agreed to a two-year commitment as presenting sponsor of the Northern California Open Championship, set for Sept. 25-27 in Patterson, Calif. … Tom Coyne, author of "Paper Tiger: An Obsessed Golfer’s Quest to Play with the Pros", will hold a book signing at Edgmont Country Club in Edgmont, Pa., on July 20 at 7 p.m. Edgmont was Coyne’s home course in his quest to qualify for the PGA Tour. … The Golf Channel will air "Golf Central Special Presentation: Tiger and Phil Speak Out," tonight from 8-9 p.m. ET. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will speak publicly for the first time since the U.S. Open and are in the field for this week’s Cialis Western Open. … Stuart Deane, a 34-year-old Australian currently living in Arlington, Texas, won the Trump Million Dollar Invitational by defeating Gibby Martens of Scottsdale, Ariz., on the first playoff hole. Deane earned $1 million. Also, the U.S. Pro Golf Tour announces a five-year partnership with entrepreneur Donald Trump. Beginning in 2007, four major championships of the USPGT will carry a total purse of $10.1 million. … Europe posted a record-breaking 19.5-4.5 victory over the United States at the Palmer Cup at Prestwick Golf Club in Prestwick, Scotland. The former record was a 19-5 U.S. win against GB&I in the inaugural Palmer Cup in 1997 at Bay Hill. … Tom Watson, the Kansas City Golf Association and Midwest Section PGA announce the formation of The Watson Cup. The planned annual championship will help determine the best golfer in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The inaugural event will be held June 9-11, 2007 and hosted by Hallbrook Country Club. … The Ladies’ English Open at Chart Hills Golf Club in Kent, England, seeks a title sponsor for the Oct. 6-8 event. … Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwanee, Ga., will host a One Club World Championship qualifying event on Aug. 30.

May Rounds Down 3%

The National Golf Foundation reports that May rounds were down 3.2 percent nationwide on a same-store basis, breaking a streak of four months during which rounds were in positive territory. Also, rounds are up 4.5 percent for the first five months of 2006 vs. 2005.
