Zeon goes Royal

Royal Golf Club in Ninh Binh, Vietnam has started the construction of a new 18 Hole Golf Course under the guidance of Nicklaus Design, the global golf course design firm founded by golf legend Jack Nicklaus and widely regarded as the world’s leading design firm.

The contract for supplying the turf for the new course has been granted to Sustainable Turf Farms which is owned and operated by Sports Turf Solutions (STS), Asia’s largest ITGAP Certified Turf Producer.

The tees, fairways and roughs will be grassed with Zeon Zoysia and the greens will feature either Trinity or Primo Zoysia, two new species of turfgrass designed for Tee to Green sur-faces.

Commenting on the contract, Brad Burgess, the Founder and CEO of Sports Turf Solutions said, “This is a significant win for Sustainable Turf Farms and is further validation of the quality of ZEON which is fast becoming the turfgrass of choice for golf courses in SE Asia.”

The new 18-hole will complement the existing 18-hole course at the Royal Golf Club that is grassed with Bermuda.

“The selection of Zeon Zoysia by various Agronomists and the Nicklaus Design Firm was influenced by the company’s experience with this turfgrass which it used on the renovation of the Laem Chabang International Golf Club in Pattaya, Thailand.” Burgess went on to add, “Nicklaus Design has observed that the use of ZEON is already delivering low maintenance costs, especially the 99% less use in chemicals and up to 60% less mowing. And the play-ing conditions are better than ever after being planted only a year ago.”

“The selection of Zeon Zoysia for the Royal Golf Club is a strong testimonial of its proven record to handle the tough weather challenges and low sunlight conditions in Northern Vi-etnam, which suits the turfgrass perfectly!” Burgess explained.

To prepare for this new contract, Flagstick Golf Course Construction has begun construction of the site nursery to support the new course.

“This is the eighth new project signing for STS this year and we are delighted to see the spontaneous acceptance of Zeon Zoysia in the region,” Burgess concluded.
