Arnold Palmer and Steve Spurrier to Make First Appearance at the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament in 2006

December 19, 2005, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Monday After the Masters tournament organizers announced today that proceeds from the 2005 Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament totaled $425,000, breaking the 2004 record of $400,000.

Donations from the 2005 tournament, held April 11, 2005, at Barefoot Resort & Golf in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., were distributed to the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation ($200,000), the South Carolina Junior Golf Association ($120,000), the First Tee Program of Spartanburg ($30,000), the South Carolina Juvenile Diabetes Foundation ($15,000), the Fishhouse Foundation of New Hampshire ($10,000) and $50,000 to the Charleston junior golf facility planned for the future.

"When we started the Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament 12 years ago, one of our goals was to make a difference in the lives of youth in our home state of South Carolina," said Darius Rucker of Hootie & the Blowfish. "Each year, the tournament grows and more money is raised to benefit our chosen charities. We are grateful to our faithful fans and friends who helped us set a new donation record in 2005. We look forward to an even bigger and better Monday After the Masters in 2006."

Sponsored by Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, the 2006 Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament will once again be held at Barefoot Resort & Golf in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Monday, April 10th. This is the fourth year that Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday has hosted the event at Barefoot Resort and the 12th year of the Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament.

Two first-time participants have joined the list of celebrities, athletes and musicians scheduled to play in the 2006 Monday After the Masters; Hall of Fame golfer Arnold Palmer and University of South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier.

Monday After the Masters participants will have the opportunity to bid on a piece of history as Hootie & the Blowfish donated the band’s first touring van, a 1993 Ford Econoline Conversion Van Explorer. The van will be customized by West Coast Customs, the automotive restyling center that handles the conversions on the MTV television show, "Pimp My Ride," and will be auctioned off at Sunday night’s party at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach.

The complete list of Monday After the Masters’ celebrity participants and the date for tickets sales will be announced in February 2006.
