Golf Course Superintendents Association of America gains exposure for industry issues through day of advocacy in Washington, D.C.
Lawrence, Kan. (May 17, 2016) – The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) has announced that “Katrek and Maginnes On Tap,” the most popular program on the PGA Tour Satellite Radio Network, will broadcast live May 18 from National Golf Day in Washington, D.C.
Now in its ninth consecutive year, National Golf Day is organized by the industry coalition We Are Golf, which includes GCSAA. This year’s event will be a full day, with face-to-face meetings scheduled between legislators and more than 50 GCSAA members who are part of the association’s Grassroots Ambassador program. Allied golf organizations will also attend to share key information about the industry – such as that golf is annually responsible for 2 million jobs, $70 billion in economic impact and $4 million in charitable giving.
“We are thrilled to have “Katrek and Maginnes On Tap” on Capitol Hill and help communicate important issues within the golf industry,” said Rhett Evans, CEO of GCSAA.
The radio show, on Sirius channel 208 and XM channel 92, will air 5-7 p.m. (Eastern). The program will feature interviews with various members of Congress and GCSAA representatives, as well as PGA TOUR leaders and golfers. Davis Love III and Steve Stricker will attend to support the event.
The radio program will be hosted by Brian Katrek, a talented amateur golfer and former Tour caddie who has been part of the national radio broadcast team for all four major championships. He has broadcast golf since 2005 and has earned an Emmy Award for his work.
