Tiger Woods Holds Mid-Season Lead In 2008 PGA Player Of The Year Standings; Will Surrender Vardon Trophy

Tiger Woods, who won the recent U.S. Open and announced a day later that he would sit out the remainder of the year to rehabilitate after reconstructive knee surgery, is the leader in the PGA of America‘s 2008 Player of the Year point standings. With Woods ending his season early and having completed only 26 rounds, he will forfeit his opportunity to collect scoring points and the race for an eighth Vardon Trophy, which marks scoring excellence.

Golfweek’s Golfest Connecticut Draws Record Numbers

Golfweek reports on its 2008 Golfest series, which concluded with Golfest Connecticut, June 14-15 at TPC River Highlands. The free event, which was held in conjunction with the Travelers Championship, attracted more than 2,500 attendees and was the final stop in the series’ six-event tour around the country.

Kodak and PGA TOUR Announce Inaugural Kodak Challenge

Eastman Kodak Co. and the PGA Tour announce the creation of the Kodak Challenge, a first-of-its-kind competition for PGA Tour players that celebrates beautiful holes and memorable moments on the PGA Tour. The Kodak Challenge begins in January 2009 and select PGA Tour tournaments will feature a Kodak Challenge hole. Players must play at least 18 Kodak Challenge holes throughout the season to be eligible to win.
