The 2008 the honorees will include Jim Langley, a PGA professional and retired head golf professional from Cypress Point Club in Carmel, Calif., and Hall of Fame golfer Arnold Palmer. … The International Players Tour chooses Oakley and MelanSol as the official eyewear and sunscreen of the IPT, respectively. IPT will promote the two brands to its membership at the 200-plus events across the country in 2008. Also, the IPT announces that Mark Williams has been named as district director for Georgia. Williams will assume responsibility for the current schedule in place for the district – the next event scheduled for Aug. 23 in Acworth, Ga. … The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation raised $120,000 during the ninth 65 Roses Golf Tournament at the World Golf Village‘s The Slammer & Squire Golf Course in St. Augustine, Fla.

The SAS Championship announces that past champions Bruce Lietzke (2001, 2002), D.A. Weibring (2003), Craig Stadler (2004), Hale Irwin (2005) and Tom Jenkins (2006) commit to play in the Champions Tour event, Sept. 26-28. Reigning champion Mark Wiebe previously committed. … PGA and British Open champion Padraig Harrington has opened the door for two past major champions to complete the foursome for the 26th PGA Grand Slam of Golf, Oct. 13-15 in Bermuda. By winning two major championships this season, Harrington and Masters champion Trevor Immelman form one-half of the foursome. Invitations will be extended to the top two finishers in the Major Champions Point List – Phil Mickelson and Retief Goosen. Reigning U.S. Open champion Tiger Woods has been sidelined for the remainder of the season while recovering from knee surgery.

AHEAD on board for Patriot Golf Day

AHEAD becomes a merchandise partner for the second Patriot Golf Day, to be held at participating golf courses around the country Aug. 29-Sept. 1. AHEAD has designed a limited edition cap for Patriot Golf Day and will donate $2.50 for each cap sold to participating pro shops to the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Dunning announces the launch of Dunning Classic, a country-club driven premium sportswear collection featuring cuts, colors and fabrics fueled by the brand’s authentic golf heritage. The line will premiere in spring 2009.

Ecco logo inspires new collection

Ecco announces a new logo concept – Four Dots – that will premier with its spring/summer 2009 golf shoe collection, which arrives in stores in early November. Subtly expressed in a variety of forms across the uppers and outsoles of each shoe in both the men’s and women’s lines, Ecco’s Four Dots were directly inspired by the four, circular-formed letters of the company’s iconic logo.
